This makes this the EIPFS105TYCH ideal for applications where the occupant wishes to avoid the worry of replacing batteries, or where battery removal by a tenant is of concern. Ideal for rental properties – no battery maintenance requirements. Product Description The EIPFS105TYCH is a Phohoelectric (Optical) Smoke Alarm that runs on a 9V 10 year lithium battery to provide a long lasting life. What makes the EIPFS105TYCH different from other “so called” 10 year devices? - its lithium battery is integrated into the alarm printed circuit board not just a plug in battery with some form of anti tamper device. In addition the battery is of a type not used in other household appliances, therefore the temptation to remove the battery has itself been removed. The EIPFS105TYCH is easily installed and comes supplied with all necessary screw fixings. Unlike its 230 volt equivalent it does not require the services of a licenced electrician, a significant cost saving. The EIPFS105TYCH is particularly useful near kitchens as it is less effected by cooking fumes. The hush button will silence nuisance alarms from cooking etc, if they occur, for 10 minutes. The EIPFS105TYCH has an advanced high performance optical chamber fitted with integral insect screens to reduce the effects of insects and debris build up which may cause false alarms. Photoelectric (Optical) smoke alarms use the light scatter principle to detect smoke particles entering the optical chamber within the alarm. They are most suited to fires producing visibly dense smoke, typically given off from smouldering bed linen, plastics, and fused electrical appliances. Issued 1 st May 2006 Visibly dense smoke, which also contains toxic fumes, impairs the occupant’s ability to see and make their way to an exit. The design standard AS1670.1 mandates the use of photoelectric smoke detection in all sleeping areas and paths to an exit. The EIPFS105TYCH has the ability to interconnect up to twelve TY series alarms to allow all alarms to sound if just one of the interconnected alarms should be triggered. Interconnecting all alarms significantly increases the audible warning provided and the chances of waking sleeping occupants. This provides early warning throughout the building, no lost time while the fire threat grows. The EIPFS105TYCH has built in circuitry to aid suppression of RF interference to further reduce the chances of false alarms, as well it has soldered alarm sounder contacts to prevent sounder failure due to pressure fit contact corrosion, an identified source of occupant warning failure. Operation • The test button will flash red every 40 seconds to show that the detector has performed an automatic self test • The red indicator will flash rapidly to show an alarm condition for the smoke detector • The "Test/Hush" button will either silence false alarms or perform a unit self test • In "Test" mode the alarm will perform a self test and sound the horn • Interconnect up to 12 other alarms (EIPFS100TYC and EIPFS105TYCH). When interconnected an alarm on one detector will trigger all other interconnected alarms within one second (only the triggered alarm will flash a red indicator). Interconnection helps ensure that the warning will be heard throughout the Dwelling. • At the end of its service life (10 years+) the EIPFS105TYCH will emit a beep every 40 seconds to indicate that the battery is depleted and the unit needs replacing.
